Sadly, my new avatar tells the tale of the tape. The Connect! Unite! Act! effort has been rolling for two years or more now, and, outside of ‘The City’ — aka NY City — and the “downstate” (New Yawkers would say Upstate) group, “New York Hudson Valley Kossacks,” there is nothing but nothing between them and Niagara Falls. Well, except ours in the NY-21 cd. That’s a whole lotta nuthin’! We need to change that. NY is a relatively small state, but there’s over 500 miles from east to west (which is a tad wider than the state of Kansas to give an idea).
The new Group, CrowdSourcing the 50 State Strategy is something C.U.A! has been heading toward for awhile now, the idea being for it, the Group, to act as a catalyst for action — the “Act!” part of C.U.A! — in the ongoing effort to GOTV everywhere. Everywhere meaning all 192,000 voter Precincts (give or take) from sea to shining sea. How do we do that? Mostly by doing what we’ve been doing. Attend your local C.U.A! That’s big! Attend the “regional” C.U.A! event. Hopefully we continue with those! They’re huge! And, I know it takes a lot of time, effort and money to pull those off, but for my money they are Key to the whole shebang! We need to continue those if at all possible! The “regionals” pull it all together. It’s where we get the information we need to take back to the local C.U.A! where we can pass what we learned onto our local activists. Key. We need two “regional” C.U.A! events each year, the third being Netroots Nation. One in the Spring, one in the Fall. NN in the summer makes three. As the “Locals” grow we will eventually have four sub-regionals, or state-wide regionals — in addition to the Spring and Fall national regionals — where many of us will have a chance to attend two regionals each year, and maybe even NN. yay!
Which brings us to the Thruway cities. Not a local C.U.A! “chapter” to be found. Since we have one up my way in NY-21, and one “downstate” we should build the one in the middle — Albany — and work from there. Anyone in the Hudson Valley group want to help with that give me a shout. And, any Albany Kossacks here want to put your flag on the map please give me a shout! There’s gotta be one on here from Albany. I know Albany is a blue city that’s always going to vote Dem, regardless, but every flag on the map helps! So, please help us out!
Any other Kossacks want to get involved in your local yokel neck of the woods give navajo a shout and she will hook you up! Dr. Dean’s 50 State Strategy always was the right way to rebuild the party and the only way that’s going to get done is for us to get it done! Kudos again to navajo and MB (does anyone not know MB?) for the time and effort to build this! And to Chris Reeves for working the trenches to make all this happen! Albany, look for us in January! Got to get the Holidays out of the way, then we can take care of business!
