I was excited to follow Mr. Catskill outside, hoping to see a glowing jade with gold monarch chrysalis. But that is certainly not what’s clinging to a grape vine under the peak of the baby barn. I spent some time online looking at all sorts of butterflies and caterpillars, to figure out whether it’s going to be a good neighbor or a pest. Polyphemus, swallowtails, tomato hornworm... I’m stumped.

bright green, tan spotsIt has one “eye” not two, that looks more yellow than white. The diagonal marks on the side are more tan in color, not bright yellow or gold.
For comparison, this is a monarch chrysalis which is smaller.
